How it Works

The aim of Swim Club is for swimmers to improve their own times.

Strokes

Swimmers compete in up to 3 events each night, and rotate swim strokes on a 4 week cycle:       

  • Week 1
    Any two freestyle distances plus one backstroke distance
  • Week 2
    Any two freestyle distances plus one breaststroke distance
  • Week 3
    Any two freestyle distances plus one butterfly distance
  • Week 4
    Any two freestyle distances plus one individual medley distance

 

Distances

Events are run in a range of distances suitable for swimmers of all levels: 17m, 25m, 33m, 50m, 100m, and 200m. 

Points

Points are awarded based on a swimmer’s improvement over his or her Personal Best (PB) time for that event:

Improvement Points
more than 2 seconds better than PB 10
between 1 second and 2 seconds better than PB 8
less than 1 second better than PB 7
equal to PB 5
less than 1 second slower than PB 3
between 1 second and 2 seconds slower than PB 2
more than 2 seconds slower than PB 1
